22 April 1863 — Exeter House, Roehampton
Wednesday. 22nd [April 1863]. Had Mme DuPouy all the morng and did not go out but worked for the Bazaar all the aftern. Dined with the M. & Schr at Baron Hambro’s. Count Falbe took me in to dinner & we met the Danish Minister (Bitte), Dean & Mrs French, Miss French, Lord & Lady Leven, Hon. Mr & Mrs Norman Melville, Mr & Mrs Bescott & Mr Henley. Maria, Richd & Con: came in the eveng & we went on to Lady Hennikers ball. It was Con’s first ball and she enjoyed it very much & we stayed till 2½. Very tired.
