14 September 1871 — Venice | |
Thursday. 14th September [1871]. Just after breakfast we had a visit from Mr Grant Duff & he & Henry went off to Salviati’s together whilst I stayed at home & wrote. At 12 Henry returned to fetch me & we went to the photographer’s Vianelli & took Hill with me to arrange my toilette. We were there quite an hour & ½ & Cortellazzo joined us there. We came back to the hotel & had luncheon & took leave of Cortellazzo who went back to Vicenza. We spent the afternoon at Murano & met there the Grant Duffs & Mr Greig & Capt Lynch & showed them the glass blowing—we then went over the Murano Museum with the Abbate Zanetti & came home just in time for dinner. In the eveng we went to the Piazza. | |
