28 December 1872 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 28th [December 1872]. Mr Newton arrived from England & went to an hotel but we made him bring his things here & install himself. There was a tremendous shindy among our servants & Giovanni gave us warning & wanted to leave that minute– Dragonetti called & told Hy that things looked very black & that in case the Palace was attacked wd we take in the Q. & children. Later Bouillé called & Mme de Tolleville. After dinner Inzenga, the Hunts & Mr Haggart came & we had a little music tho’ they came so late there was not much time. Henry has a swelled face. | |
