12 March 1873 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 12th [March 1873]. I got through a lot of letters. We went out to the gallery to meet Grau & see the copy of “Cain” he has made us & after went to the dentist & came home early as I rather expected Mme de Canitz wd come to play duetts but she did not. It was a showery afternoon. Henry had a telegraph from London to say Gladstones Govt had been beaten—so they will have to go out. I read Ticknor after dinner. | |
