25 October 1874 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 25th [October 1874]. I had a headache—but I managed to go out driving & took Clarita & the 2 Aylton girls to the new drive in the Buen Retiro wh the D. of Fernan Nuñez has lately opened & wh is very pretty. On returning home I laid down but my headached very much—the Riaños, Carretero, Ponton, Maffei, Major Hall & Carnide & O’Conor dined with us. I was obliged to go to bed directly after dinner. | |
