9 February 1875 — Madrid | |
Tuesday. 9th [February 1875]. Took Mmes Greindl & Broutelles to the Prado. In the eveng we walked to the Bauers & found only Esquivel & Ruiz Gomez there. Henry told them he had very bad news from the army of the North; that the Carlists had had a great victory on 3rd & killed & wounded 2000 royalists. When we thought of going home we found it was raining & Bauer very kindly ordered out his carriage to send us home. | |
