30 October 1875 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 30th [October 1875]. Took a ride with Henry. We went up the Fuente & beyond it & across the ploughed fields till we got to the path wh leads to the convent of San Bernardo. It was a lovely day & there is a pretty view of the mountains on one side & on the other of Madrid. It strikes one how small the town is for one can see all round it the desert burnt up ground. | |
