30 April 1876 — Madrid
Sunday. 30th April [1876]. Col Ellis sent us from HRH his & the Pss portraits in lithograph—& Ld Carrington & he came to leave HRH cards on us. Lord Charles called to say good bye & Mr Russell the Times correspondent came to breakfast. At 2 Henry & I went to the station to see HRH off for Lisbon. The King brought him there. Henry accompanied him to Aranjuez. It began to rain & this last weeks sudden fine weather departed with HRH. I went home & rested & at 5 Henry returned. He said the P. was pleased with his visit & the only thing that had annoyed him was the conduct of the Dss. I sent for B. Aylton to arrange abt our dancing tomorrow eveng before taking down the downstairs furniture. The Riaños came & dined with us but went away early.
