14 May 1876 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 14th May [1876]. One of these days (I am uncertain wh) I want to try & see Mme Ulloa to find out what was the matter with Dss de la Torre—she came the same eveng to see me abt 6 & told us that the Dss declared that we had 1st invited her to dinner & then put her off—that all the liberal party condemned her conduct & regretted it exceedingly– The Walshams, Castelar, Greppi, Mr Kennedy & Mr Sartoris dined with us. We went afterwards to the Ulloas it being Mr U’s fête. D. Antonio Vejarano came to us from Css Montijo to beg us to go & see her tomorrow. | |
