15 June 1876 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 15th [June 1876]. Went to Lido & bathed. Henry also bathed. I had my first swimming lesson of this year. ((*Henry & Burrs & Ed. went to antiquity shops. I & B stayed at home & read & worked till 2 when we had arranged to go to S. Trovaso to meet Mrs Burr & paint. She did not come—& soon a storm of rain began so that B & I hastened to pack up & rush home. A heavy storm of rain came as soon as we were in)) Went with Mrs Burr to paint at S. Trovaso & had rather a dull day but were able to draw from 2 till 3.30 when we went to take tea with Rawdon Brown. Henry, B & E & the Squire joined us there. After tea Henry & I went to pay some visits.
