9 December 1876 — Madrid | |
Saturday. 9th December [1876]. I painted all the morning, the day was fine. Henry went to the funeral service of poor Pirel at 11 & did not return till 1.30 when we breakfasted. Esquivel came to look at my painting– At 3 Henry took me for a walk we went to the Campo de Moro to see the distant river filled with water a rare occurrence. We then walked up the Calle Mayor to the corner of the Recolletos & then back home. The Riaños dined with us. He went off to the Academy directly after dinner; she stayed till 10. | |
