15 February 1877 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 15th [February 1877]. I stayed in bed till 1 to nurse my cold. Clarita came to see me to borrow a white mantilla to be photod in. We dined with the Bauers—met Ruiz Gomez, the Montebellos, Canovas, Ojeda &c &c Noisy discussion in the eveng wh arose out of my asking Ida if the Jews prayed for the dead. Canovas joined in loudly & the hubbub was deafening. | |
