24 August 1877 — Therapia | |
Friday. 24th August [1877]. Mr Fawcett having been away to Rodosto sent by Henry to look after the poor refugees he came with his wife immediately after our breakfast to give an acct of it & to beg for clothes for some of the women were almost naked as he brought patterns I & Mrs F at once set to work to cut out shirts & promised to have as many as we could ready for him when he started off again on Sunday. I sent to beg Mrs Parnis to come & help to cut out & we worked all day only going out to play tennis at 5 o’cl. | |
