7 August 1878 — Therapia
Wednesday. 7th [August 1878]. Had a headache & did not get up till lunch time. Directly after lunch I went out with Henry in the steam launch. We went to Scutari to see Julians grave & to arrange about putting up the stone sent in his memory by his parents. Mr Lyne was not in but his sons were and so was his wife and I went in & paid her a visit. Found she has 8 children a boy of 7 & a baby 3 weeks. From Scutari we went to Hyssar to pay Ahmed Vefyk a visit & found the Chief Judge of Roumelia with him, a handsome middle aged man with a white turban & white flowing garments & to him belonged a splendid white donkey with red velvet & gold trappings wh we had seen at the door as we went in. He was a nice looking man & spoke French pretty well, having been secy of Emby at Paris in his youth with Ahmed Vefyk P. Had some tea wh revived me & at 6 we left & returned home.
