16 December 1878 — Constantinople | |
Monday. 16th December [1878]. On waking Henry told me had had last night recd a telegram from England to say Pss Alice was dead from diptheria. We had to send round to put off our dinner party of tonight, wh I did not regret being unwell & I did not get up till the afternoon when I went into the boudoir on the sofa. Hobart P. came to see me there. | |
