24 December 1878 — Constantinople | |
Tuesday. 24th [December 1878]. Took my singing lesson. May went to decorate the Memorial church & was away all day. I went out in the carriage to pay some visits—but Nicoli the servant was so stupid he cd hardly find any of the houses I wanted to go to so had to give it up & went to call on the Villa Mantillas & the Higginsons who both live in the Hotel Royale & then came home. May went to dine with Lady Dickson so Henry & I dined quite alone in the room next his. He has a lame leg so I sent for Dr Patterson who says it is a strain. | |
