5 January 1879 — Constantinople | |
Sunday. 5th [January 1879]. Went to church here at the Embassy chapel. The service was long & I was so tired I fell to crying during the service. Had to remain quiet the rest of the day. Hobart P. came to see me & have a chat. All the Embassy, Mr Grace & Mr Maynard dined. The parrot sent me by the de Wintons arrived today from Liverpool. It is the bird I had so longed for wh belonged to Sir Fenwick Williams at Gibraltar. | |
