7 January 1879 — Constantinople | |
Tuesday. 7th January [1879]. Had my singing lesson. In the afternoon May & I drove and to pay visits. Found it was Greek Christmas Eve & so found Mme Negroponte & Mrs Sorrell in. Mrs Longtree, Mrs Crawford & Mme Fernandez called. Had a little party to dinner consisting of Mr & Mrs Washington, Mr Curtis & Mrs Walker, Sir C. & Lady Dickson & Hobart Pasha. Mr Washington sang to us in the eveng. Good voice—but badly taught & a cold into the bargain. | |
