19 February 1879 — Constantinople
Wednesday. 19th February [1879]. The Admiral left us after breakfast but it blew so hard that he cd not get across to his train in time & so returned to us. With Mr Mallet’s help I wrote a letter in French to the Sultan to thank H.M. for the bracelet. Mrs Arthur Hanson came to see me & stayed luncheon. May came later. The weather was so bad we were glad not to have started today.
