1 July 1879 — Therapia | |
Tuesday. 1st July [1879]. My 35th birthday. Sent all the servants out for a picnic to Belgrade & only Giovanni remained behind. We went to dine with the Persian Ambr & went in the steam mouche & took Corti. It was a lovely evening & we came back in the full moonlight. The dinner was a large one. I did the honors & Zichy took me to dinner & I had Fournier the other side. After dinner we went into the harem & Mme Kosjek did interpreter. Mme [illegible word] is stouter than ever, but good natured & more talkative then most Turkish ladies. | |
