7 December 1879 — Constantinople | |
Sunday. 7th December [1879]. It thundered & lightened a good deal during the night & the S. wind blew. Went to church with Henry & Alice at 11. It was too wet to go out at all so Henry & I walked the corridor & then I wrote letters. Alice went to the 2nd service. It poured with rain the whole day. The Embassy dined with us viz Smijth, Sartoris, Stevens, Leveson Gower, Sandison, Swaine, Bland, Nicolson & Mr Oliphant. | |
