25 January 1880 — Constantinople
Sunday. 25th [January 1880]. I went to morng service. I kept Florence up in her room in punishment. After lunch walked in the garden with Henry. Mme Mantilla came to see me & sat a long time chatting up in my boudoir. The Embassy dined with us. In the eveng Savas P. & Parnis Effi came to sign the Slave Trade Convention with Henry & then came to tea with me. It was rather amusing to hear Henry chaff Savas—but such an abject creature as he is could hardly understand it & got dreadfully worried & confused.
