31 March 1880 — Constantinople
Wednesday. 31st [March 1880]. Sent for Kathleen & painted her portrait wh filled up my morng after I had written letters & copied for Henry. After lunch I went out walking with Hill & went to fetch Mme Mantilla to go with us—we went to the jewelers to find some presents for Alice’s birthday tomorrow & to have a ring arranged for me to give as wedding present to Amy d’Ehrenhoff. We then walked to the Austrian Embassy to see Css Dubsky but did not find her in & so I came home & met Mme Fournier at our door who said she wd take Alice to Marseilles on Wednesday next. Mr Lascelles & Mr St John dined with us & went afterwards to Dorcas Concert. Mr Bowyer Jones also dined a gentleman farmer who is seeing the country. When he was gone Henry & I played tête a tête dominoes till bed time.
