21 February 1883 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 21st February [1883]. Ola & I walked out in the morng. We went to Marshall & Snelgrove’s to get some chintz, to Stotts for a book for the housemaid who is ill & to L. & Allenby for the stuff for my train for the next drawing room. Home to lunch. Arthur came in to lunch & promised to come & dine this evening wh promise he did not keep so he sent word to say he was not well eno’. Ola & I drove out after lunch—left some cards & went to see Mrs Alex: Bagot at Cheniston Gardens. She rattled away—& showed us her house. We got home soon after 5. Found my sister Maria at home & Lady Eastlake. Gave them tea– Maria & Ola went out & bought me flowers for the dinner table. Monty & Blanche & Edward dined. At 11 I went to party at Lady Harcourts & B & Edward also went. Met a good many people we knew; it was very pleasant.
