23 March 1884 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 23rd March [1884]. Alice being still with us she & I walked off to St Margaret’s Westminster & the Mays kindly gave us places in their pew. We walked home to lunch & afterwards Alice went off to see her cousins and I & Monty walked together to S. Audley St & he left me at the Rates. I found them at home. Alice Rate went to church & left me with Mr Rate & at 3.30 Henry came & fetched me & we went off to St John’s Wood to see Fred & Mrs Layard. We found them at home & stayed a little while & then returned & paid Blanche a visit & from her we came home on foot. Alice came home—quiet evening.
