2 November 1884 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 2nd November [1884]. I went to church in the morning. The day was fine, the sun very hot & the wind cold & strong & it was so cold during the service that I was obliged to come away in the middle of it & Mrs Brown who was next me did the same thing. In the afternoon we went in the gondola with felze over the Giudecca to the Edens’ garden. Just as we went across it was blowing pretty fresh and there were quite waves. The Edens were not at the garden but just as we were turning back to Venice they arrived & we went into the garden & took a turn & picked some flowers & returned home to tea. Mrs West came to tea.
