30 January 1885 — 1 Queen Anne Street | |
Friday. 30th [January 1885]. We went to Aldermaston by a train reaching abt 6. Met there Mr & Mrs Hall, Norfolk people. She is French Protestant & very pleasant. He is clever, had been a newspaper correspondent until his rich brother’s death left him heir to a large property. We dined at 6.30 & all his house went down to the school to hear Mr Hall give a lecture on Waterloo– Henry & I remained at home. | |
