25 May 1885 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 25th [May 1885]. I breakfasted downstairs & resumed the reins of Govt in the house. Mr Brown called & came up to my studio to see me. I painted in watercolours. Copied for Henry, read & worked. Lord Lytton came up abt 6 & sat & chatted till dinner time. I dined downstairs & wrote in the evening when Lord Lytton & Henry went out. | |
