1 January 1886 — Inwood, Henstridge, Somerset | |
Friday. 1st January [1886]. Henry breakfasted early & went up to town for the day to go with the Trustees of the Nat. Gallery to see the Chancellor of the Exchequer (Sir Michael Hicks Beach) on appointment. Arthur left Inwood by the same train. I was late for breakfast & only found Theo finishing hers. I made cigarettes for Henry– Distributed a few New Year offerings to Goodie &c Read– After lunch I drove out with Theo for an hour– Had tea in my room– Read– Dinner at 7. Henry returned abt 8.30. Played whist with Theo, Merthyr & Ly Westr. | |
