2 November 1886 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Tuesday. 2nd [November 1886]. Henry & I went off to the cemetery in the morning it being the Morti or All Souls to see after the grave of Mrs Mason an English lady on her bridal tour who died here last year. We met there the Bronson party & all went together. After going to the new we went on to the old Protestant cemetery & were shocked to find it so badly kept. We looked for G.P.R. James’ tomb and found the inscription almost illegible so we determined to have it put in order. We got home by lunch at 1.30. Henry took out Lord & Lady Bagot in afternoon & then went to the station to meet Morelli who came to stay with us. Mrs Burr & Isabel came to tea to take leave of us as they leave for England tomorrow.
