20 April 1887 — Milan
Wednesday. 20th [April 1887]. Henry took girls out. I breakfasted in bed & then got up & packed. Lunch at 12. Da Mariquita & D. Juanito called to bid us goodbye. We left for Venice by 1.30 train. It was nice & hot. Some trees, chestnuts & lilacs were out on the way. Splendid day. Mr Malcolm came to Mestre to meet us & brought the girls to our house in his open gondola. Dined. Patience.
