27 October 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 27th [October 1887]. Busy morning making up lavender bags & arranging linen cupboards for Css Pisani’s inspection. She did not come till nearly lunch time & I stayed with her shewing her & her maid over the house. After lunch Henry, Sir Wm & I went to Mr Woods’ studio to see his pictures of Portia which he is doing for the proprietors of the graphic newspaper. It is pretty but not very remarkable. Mrs Burr & Isabel Scobell & Mr Woods dined with us. There were 2 games of patience played after dinner.
