29 October 1887 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 29th [October 1887]. I was better & up. Modelled till 12 when I went out for a walk with Kate. Henry took Miss Maxwell to the station & saw her off by the train to Florence. Kate & I went to Css Pisani & found she had returned to Vescovana by the same train. We went to see Mrs Eden who had a bad cold & we walked on to the Piazza & found the gondola there which brought us home. We found Dr Cini waiting to see Kate who wanted to consult him about her eczema & he recommended the waters of Roncigno. We had a good tea at 5 & went to the Marionette theatre Henry, Kate, the Gregorys & I—we went with Mrs Bronson, Miss Ker, Mrs Brown & Mr H. Brown & Mr & Mrs St. Loe Strachey. We saw “Lord Byron in Venezia” & a ballet—very clever & very absurd. The performance being over abt 9.30 we returned to Mrs Bronsons & were regaled with an excellent supper & got home soon after 11.
