14 May 1888 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Monday. 14th May [1888]. Practised guitar– Not very well. Sat in our new morning room wh used to be the billiard room– Bonghi came to lunch & Blanche & May Ponsonby. I drove Bonghi to Albert Hall at 3 & then went to pay visits. Found Connie at home. Went to tea with Lady Tavistock & Rachel Gurney. Kate & Eda Alderson came to stay with us. Henry & I dined with Blanche & Edward & met Lord & Lady Moreton, Sir Rowland Blennerhassett, Mr Lionel Ashley & Miss Brown—the latter sang. Sir Rowland told me that his wife has just been to Berlin to see the Emperor & Empress & she says the Emps knows he is dying & she has no further illusions on the subject.
