20 October 1888 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 20th [October 1888]. We had expected to find the Edens starting for England. We found they had given it up & sent back for their boxes of winter clothes. Carry came to lunch with us. Dr Cini came. I went to see Css Pisani who was just starting to return to the country but I had an hour’s chat with her. She left at 12 oclock. I practised the guitar. I read before dinner aloud to the Du Cane girls. After dinner Henry took them out in gondola. I remained at home. | |
