13 January 1890 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 13th [January 1890]. Still a white fog. I was better & got up for lunch. At 5 Css Canevaro came & brought the Prima donna Mlle Meyer who sings in Lohengrin to introduce to me. She is a handsome woman with fine eyes dark with a pale complexion & good manners. She said she was of Swiss origin and brought up in Italy. Is engaged to marry a Ct Platis of Padua of a good family but poor. | |
