28 May 1890 — Milton Court, nr. Dorking, Surrey | |
Wednesday. 28th May [1890]. Got up rather earlier & wrote a lot of letters. At 1 went with Mrs Rate & Lady Horatio Erskine who arrived this morning with her girl & boy to stay a day, to drive up to the top of Ranmore for a picnic in the woods. It was rather chilly as the sun did not keep out but the views were lovely and we went to a beautiful spot where we had a beautiful view over the country. We sauntered in the woods & then drove round & dropped the Erskine family at Lady Hertfords & she returned to Milton later. | |
