22 March 1891 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 22nd March [1891]. It was a rained hard all day. Went twice to church. Mr Jameson being still absent & ill a clergyman named Donovan who happened to be in Venice wrote & offered to do the service wh Henry as church warden gladly accepted. Read aloud to Henry before dinner. Mr Malcolm & Mr Ffrench dined with us & the latter gave us news of many old Spanish friends. He had been at Madrid as Henry’s secy & keeps up with his friends there. He talks as much as ever but is very agreeable.
