Tuesday. 7th July [1891]. We gave a dinner to Mr Doyle, Mrs Burr, Mr Scharf, Sir Wm Gregory, Sir H. Thompson, Mr & Mrs John Murray, Sir Arthur Otway, Mrs Kay, Lady C. Schreiber & Merthyr & Theo who came up to stay with us. This dinner was a sort of thanksgiving to these kind friends who had been the principal leaders in the affair of placing Henry’s bust in the British Museum. Sir Wm Gregory being chief promoter & Jack Murray Treasurer. | |
