12 July 1891 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Sunday. 12th July [1891]. Went to church in morng & then paid a visit to old Mr Thompson Hankey. After lunch I went to see Lady Stanhope & stayed some time with her. At tea time her daughter came in & asked whether we had heard cheering in the street & said it was a procession of Bakers who were passing & seeing Mrs Wilson the lady of the famous baccarat case on her balcony (a few doors from the Stanhopes in Grosvenor Crescent) they had given her 3 cheers as they passed! I went back to Portland Place to see Sophy Palmer & thence home.
