13 September 1892 — 1 Queen Anne Street
Tuesday. 13th September [1892]. We left London by 11 o’cl train from Victoria. My sister Maria went to the station with us to see us off. Dacre brought Ola to meet us & to see her off. We had a very good passage from Dover to Calais & got places in the wagon lit to Bâle. Ola & I occupied one compartment at night & slept pretty well. We had 4 Americans next to us and one of them had a large brown & white Japanese rat in a cage wh was wonderfully tame & she constantly had the animal out in her lap or curled up asleep in her hands.
