10 August 1893 — Duffryn House, Mountain Ash, Glamorgan
Thursday. 10th August [1893]. We had a long journey & on arriving there found Mama just come from staying at Peterboro’ with Kate. She brought news that Aunt Mary Huntly had died this morng. Mama was naturally much upset & as there were other guests arriving she settled to remain in her own room & not to appear at meals. Henry felt the death much having been very intimate with Lady Huntly from his boyhood. At dinner Ivor told me his house Glencarron in Scotland was unlet & offered to lend it to us.
