13 August 1893 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset
Sunday. 13th [August 1893]. Went to church in the morning. In the afternoon we had a fly & Henry & I drove over to Branksome Dene to see the Du Canes. We had tea with them & Maria & I took a walk to the wood & forgot the time that our train started for London. Henry shouted for me & the girls ran for me in all directions—& rang the dinner bell. I rushed off & threw myself into the fly & the driver urged on his horse & so we caught the train at Bournemouth E. & went up to town. We had to go up that Henry might go down to Aunt Mary’s funeral tomorrow.
