30 June 1895 — Devonshire House, Weymouth
Sunday. 30th June [1895]. I went to morning service. After lunch I went to the station to meet Lady Gregory who came to stay the night here. She had been at Southampton a night & came on here. I brought her in & gave her tea & then we walked out to the public gardens & I told her my household worries & came to the conclusion that I will send away Felicie who tho’ an excellent maid is evidently very disagreeable to her colleagues & is at the bottom of all my present troubles. After dinner Augusta read out to me a fairy tale written by her sister which she wants to get published for her. It was very clever & I advise her to take it to my sister Maria & get her to show it to Mrs Molesworth—the lady who writes so successfully for children.
