11 December 1895 — 3 Savile Row
Wednesday. 11th [December 1895]. At 10 A.M. Arthur DC. came to fetch me to take me to see a book case (2nd hand) on sale in Belgravia. It was a foggy morning but before we got to the bottom of St James’ St it was so thick we could not see anything or any one. We groped our way to G. Luff’s shop. He is brother to our old servant Luff who died a year or two ago. We managed to see the book case & I think it will suit. When we had groped our way to Piccadilly the fog lifted a little & we could see the houses & the afternoon was clear so that Kitty & I walked out.
