8 March 1896 — Villa Pisani, Vescovana
Sunday. 8th [March 1896]. I went to the R.C. church with the Countess. Being Lent there was a sermon. I was shocked at the bad behaviour of the congregation—whispering & laughing going on all the time. The preacher a young monk was evidently suffering & could hardly get on & once he remonstrated. Afternoon I took a drive with Css Pisani & she went to one of her farms. Eda remained at home. In the eveng Don Antonio read Boccaccio to us.
