14 March 1897 — 3 Savile Row
Sunday. 14th [March 1897]. Though it was [a] wet morning I walked to the Ch. Royal St James to the 12 o’cl service & heard Bishop Wilberforce preach—nothing remarkable. I sat at home all the afternoon & had a visit from Nela who brought little Michael Murray to see me. The nurse fetched away the child & Louis DC. came to fetch his sister. Mr Wyld called & Nela returned at 6 & I had my carriage & we drove to Eaton Square to the American Embassy. I had promised to go & bid the Bayards good bye as they are leaving this week for good. There were many people there. Went on to Cav. Sqr to see Blanche & from there Nela went to her own home. I remained to dinner there. Connie dined there also & we both went home at 10.
