30 March 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Friday. 30th [March 1900]. Not much better today. Indoors. Gertie Clay came & dined with me & spent a pleasant evening talking of old times & our girlhood—now so far in the past—both of us now are widows. Her husband died suddenly last year. She is fat & wears a red wig. I am thin & my hair quite white—but happily we have always remained friends tho’ we have only met at rare intervals these 30 years or more.
