12 April 1900 — 3 Savile Row
Thursday. 12th [April 1900]. Left London & went by 3 P.M. train to Wimborne. Being just before Easter the rush at the station Waterloo was appalling– Onie Ponsonby came up from a visit to Kate at Lutterworth lunched with us & went to Canford with me & took me in her mother’s carriage to the station. We had great difficulty in getting up to the platform the crowd of vehicles was so great. Luckily Nellie accompanied us & helped us. I had also telephoned to have a carriage reserved– We found it already occupied by Francie Thesiger, Nela Du Cane & Corise Rodney & her little boy Jim so we filled the carriage between us. My maid did not get down to Canford till a later train. Found Cornelia & Ivor & their son Lionel at Canford. Fred Thesiger also was there—Elaine & Ernest came later. I had the South Room & Corise next door to me. They all came & sat talking in my room when we got upstairs to go to bed!
