14 April 1901 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Sunday. 14th [April 1901]. We all 3 went to morning service. The church was crammed this being the tourist season. We lunched a little before 1 & the Gregory’s left me for Paris by the 2 P.M. train & I am once more quite alone. Carry Eden came to fetch me at 4 & we went to a reception at the studio of Baron de Pury at S. Barnaba. He has a fine portrait of the Marquis Sonimi Picenardi in his costume of the Order of Malta & several pretty pictures besides. I met Mme Wiel there who was going to evening service so I proposed taking her there & brought her back afterwards. There were a great many people at church. On my return home had a visit from Iduna Bel. & then a quiet dinner & evening & went early to bed.
